Happy Wednesday! Today I thought I would revisit my Sephora VIB Sale Recommendations and share my thoughts and whether or not I ended up keeping those products. It's been over a month now since the VIB sale, so I've had some time to really try out all of these products. I also ended up buying a few more items that I didn't list in my Sephora VIB Sale Recommendations (what is self-control), so I wanted to share those products with you all.
1. ABH Norvina Palette - Miss
If you read my recommendations, you would know that I was very excited for this palette. Sadly, I was disappointed by this palette for two reasons. First, the shadows in this palette are all a bit duller in person; they definitely aren't as bright as they appear in pictures. The shimmer shades are a bit lackluster, and the matte shades have a gray undertone.
The second reason why this palette wasn't for me is more a matter of personal preference, which is that this palette is a lot more purple than I had anticipated. For some reason, I had it in my mind that this was filled with rose gold, even mauve-y shades. This palette is very much a purple palette, however. If that's your thing, then you'll love this palette, especially since I've read mostly good reviews. I, on the other hand, am not a huge fan of purple eyeshadow, so I knew that I wouldn't get much use out of this palette.
2. Huda Beauty Rose Gold Remastered Palette - Miss
This palette was a huge miss for me. The shimmer shades came DENTED, weren't pigmented, and were very underwhelming. That was a deal-breaker because the shimmer shades are, in my opinion, the biggest selling point of this palette. I've had some trouble working with Huda shades in the past, and this palette as a whole was very mediocre.
3. Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette - Miss
My thoughts about this palette are very similar to my thoughts on the Rose Gold palette. It isn't terrible, but it isn't good enough that I wanted to spend $65 on it. There were a lot of shades that were difficult to work with, particularly the shimmer shades, which was disappointing because those were the shades I looked forward to the most.
No surprise here -- if you read my September favorites, then you know that this highlight exceeded my expectations. This highlight is a stunning champagne shade and I highly recommend it!
This highlight is just OK in my opinion, but I kept it because as I said in my recommendations, I wanted a more natural highlight to wear on a day-to-day basis. This highlight does just that!
This product isn't bad, but it was nothing special to me. I have other blushes that I like WAY more than this one, especially at the drugstore!
7. Beauty Blender x Too Faced Beauty Sleep Set - Huge Miss
I was extremely disappointed in this set! I've heard that not all beauty blenders are created equal, but I never really believed that because I would think that they're all pretty much the same sponge. However, the baby pink sponge in this set is nothing like the original beauty blender. It left streak marks and just didn't blend my foundation very well. Considering that that was the biggest selling point of this set, this item definitely had to go back. The mini beauty blender in this set is pretty much useless. The other Too Faced products are TINY, plus I already had the Too Faced Hangover Primer. Lastly, the nozzle on the Too Faced spray was TERRIBLE. It practically ruined my make up when I tried to use it. PASS.
I did like this product because it creates a nice, smooth base for my foundation. However, I have other primers in my collection that I like more, mostly because this primer isn't as moisturizing as I hoped it would be and I prefer a thinner primer.
It's too soon to say whether this has made a difference on my under eyes, but I kept it because I want to try it out. However, I will say that when you first put it on, it does have an instant brightening effect. That gives me hope, and that also means this product will come in handy before make up!
10. Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick - HIT!!!
I've already tried this foundation and was just waiting for the sale to purchase it, so I definitely kept this product. It gives you the perfect full coverage without looking cakey. It's probably my favorite purchase in this haul! GO BUY IT!
These lashes were way too big for my eyes, and they looked very unnatural and unflattering. They definitely closed my eyes in, which is the opposite effect that I want when I'm wearing falsies!
12. Tatcha Smooth, Poreless Skin Obento Box - Hit
This set is such a steal! I kept this set mainly for the moisturizer, which is usually $68, so for $10 you get to try two other products. The primer is so tacky that I'm sure that it definitely prolongs your make up. I would pass on the Deep Cleanse.
I included this in my September favorites, so this was obviously a hit. It is stunning and I know I'm going to get so much use out of it!
I already knew that I was going to keep this product because I love the Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadows. This was a shade I saw so many people using, so I knew I was going to like it.
I'm so happy that I ended up purchasing this item! I didn't have my sights set on this product when I first made my purchase, but I was swayed by all the hype online. My susceptibility to the influence of social media marketing paid off this time -- I included this in my September favorites.
The packaging on this is beautiful (as is every product from Marc Jacobs), but what's inside is just as good. This is like a lip gloss/lip balm hybrid, and it's very hydrating. The only thing I don't like is that you can't retract the product once you've rolled it up.
15. FRESH Rose Floral Toner - Miss
I'm pretty sure that this toner broke me out. Even if it didn't, it did absolutely nothing for my skin. I would definitely pass on this ridiculously-priced water!
16. NARS Atomic Blonde Eye & Face Palette - Miss
This palette is just not worth it to me. The bronzer is too dark for me (and also has a pretty red undertone), and the highlight is pretty chunky. The eyeshadow shades were nothing special. I would definitely go for a different eyeshadow palette and a bronzer/highlight that you truly love if you're looking to splurge!
17. Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara - Miss
This mascara did not wow me at all. I have drugstore alternatives that I like more than this mascara!
I think I might like this glitter more than the Natasha Denona one because it's a bit more pigmented. I'm definitely getting more shades once they restock!
I'll be honest, I bought this for the packaging. Marc Jacobs is the one brand whose packaging I absolutely cannot resist. I'm happy to say, though, that I did like the product inside! It reminds me a lot of my holy grail Too Faced Hangover Primer. If you have the Too Faced primer (or other similar primers, like the Glossier one or the Make Up Forever one) and aren't a weak-minded sucker for packaging like I am, definitely skip on this product because they're incredibly similar.
I'm sure that this powder isn't bad, but I have other powders I like more, like my It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores, my Becca Hydra-Mist, and even the Hourglass loose powder. Plus, the mini size of these products make it difficult to use with big powder brushes.
21. BECCA Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder - Hit
I LOVE this powder. It gives you a nice, cooling sensation when you apply it to the face, and doesn't leave my face cakey. My only issue with this is that there's not that much product in it, which sucks because it's so expensive.
22. Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Amplifying Eye Primer - It's OK
I'm actually kind of undecided on this primer. I'm on the hunt for a new eye primer because lately my Urban Decay primer potion has been drying down patchy. Sadly, I found this to be the case with the Fenty Beauty primer. It doesn't dry down clear and can tend to leave patchy spots on your eyes. On top of that, this primer is SUPER sticky. This is a good thing because I'm sure that your eyeshadow adheres to this primer a lot better and lasts a lot longer, but it makes the application of this primer kind of difficult. For example, if I accidentally blended the primer too far down onto my cheek, it would show and would be IMPOSSIBLE to remove. If you have recommendations for a good eye primer, leave them down below!
23. Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask - Miss
If you read my review on this product, you know that I wasn't impressed. It just didn't really do anything for my skin, which was disappointing considering that 1) you're leaving it on your face for a very long period of time and 2) it's pretty pricey.
Let me know if you've tried any of these products! Were they hits or misses for you?
